Kelly Green and her trio featuring Evan Hyde (drums), Luca Soul Rosenfeld (upright bass), will play two full sets of music at their debut performance at the Velvet Note! This performance is part of an east coast tour to celebrate the release of their album "Seems" (out on all platforms March 29th). They will perform two distinct shows, so be sure to get tickets to both sets if you'd like to stay for both! They will be selling and signing limited edition CDs and Vinyls. They will be playing music from the album and new music they have been cultivating. Their repertoire consists of jazz from the 1930's through each decade and in to the modern day with compositions by Green and her band. Perfectly combining tradition with modernity & vocal with instrumental pieces, you'll be left on the edge of your chair wondering what will happen next. She is celebrated for her natural and conversational singing which is deeply connected to the story of the lyrics. Her piano artistry strikes a balance between sophistication and modernity, firmly rooted in the jazz tradition. Her compositions have an innate sense of the balance between the intrigue of complexity and the familiarity of simplicity. Green's performances engage through diplomacy and elegance, showing her love and empathy for her audience. She has headlined at prestigious venues and festivals including The Kennedy Center, Dizzy's Jazz Club NYC, and the DC Jazz Festival. Her first three albums, featuring luminaries such as Christian McBride and Steve Nelson, have received critical acclaim and airplay on XM radio, WBGO, and more. She's shared the stage with jazz greats like Steve Wilson, George Coleman, Scott Robinson and many more. Her piano mentors include the great Harold Mabern, Kenny Barron, and Mulgrew Miller, who is responsible for bringing her to New York. Once there, she studied voice under the esteemed vocal coach Shelton Becton. Stay tuned for her upcoming album, "Seems," in March 2024, featuring her long standing trio and special guests which promises to push the boundaries of jazz. Kelly Green Biography

Kelly Green is a critically acclaimed, in-demand pianist, vocalist, and composer based in NYC. Her piano playing is sophisticated and modern while being connected to the tradition and her voice harkens to the likes of Sarah Vaughan and Blossom Dearie. Green’s compositional style is refreshingly outside of the box while effortlessly maintaining its roots in the jazz canon. She performs with an empowered flare of diplomacy and elegance, displaying her undeniable love of music-making and of her audience.

She has headlined at illustrious clubs around the world including The Kennedy Center, Dizzy’s Club NYC (Jazz at Lincoln Center) and many more.

Miss Green's first three releases, “Life Rearranged” (2017), “Volume One” Kelly Green Trio (2018), and "Endings That Are Beginnings" (2022) were highly praised by critics and feature the talents of luminaries such as Christian McBride and Josh Evans. These albums are currently broadcasting on XM radio, WBGO, WUCF, and the like. Furthermore, she has performed alongside some of the world’s leading voices in jazz including Steve Wilson, George Coleman, and Rich Perry. She looks forward to releasing her next album "Seems" in March 2024 with her longstanding trio featuring Evan Hyde (drums) and Luca Soul (bass) with the addition of Elijah J. Thomas on the flutes and special guest Rich Perry on tenor saxophone.
