Max and the Invaders Biography

4-time WAMI award winning and premier Wisconsin Ska band! Rocking stages and pleasing fans for over 30 years, playing original and your favorite Ska songs! Born in the 1960's and exploded onto the punk scene in the early 80's with the British 2-Tone movement. The Invaders were an important part of the 1990's American 3rd wave of Ska mixing it with rock and punk while keeping the 2-tone sound! Max & his Invaders have been bringing their music to the masses since 1990! Influences include the sounds of Reggae, Calypso, Rock Steady (musical styles originating in Jamaica and the West Indies) but also, punk and Rock. Artists like Danny Elfman (and his band Oingo Boingo) or 80's greats like XTC and the Police have had their influences infused into the music as well. Bands from the "2-Tone" British Ska movement heavily influenced lead singer and band founder Max. Listening to bands like The English Beat, The Specials, The Selector, Madness, Bad Manners and American 80's Ska stars like The Toasters is where Max cut his teeth on the style. Digging into the 1960's sounds of Ska/Reggae pioneers and legends like the Skatalites, Desmond Dekker, Laurel Aitken, the Maytals, Bob Marley and so many other originators only added to the sounds influencing Max and his band. And since their beginning they have released six CD's, 2 vinyl EPs and have appeared on over 25 CD compilations! Today, Max & the Invaders are not only likened to many of their 2nd wave Ska counterparts of the 1990's like Mustard Plug, Fishbone and Johnny Socko, but also contemporary artists like Reel Big Fish, No Doubt and Sublime. Over the years, the band has shared stages with such notable bands as The Wailers, The Skatalites, Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker, The English Beat, The Specials, The Selecter, Bad Manners, The Toasters, Reel Big Fish, No Doubt, Mighty Bosstones and The Fenwicks to name but a few! Max and his Invaders are sure to please the ears and feet with their 2-Tone style Ska!
