Hase Waits Biography
Hase Waits are a multi-instrumentalist folk trio coming from East Yorkshire, playing traditional music of the British Isles and afar. As well as their own compositions. Finding interest in tunes from all over the world, we decided to create the band and use the name ‘Hase Waits’ - Hase being the name in the Domesday book given to Hessle where they formed and Waits being the town musicians of medieval time. It seemed very fitting!
The band consists of sisters Heather Thomas and Hannah Bainton accompanied by James Thomas. Using a wide range of instruments such as Great Highland Bagpipes, Flutes, Whistles, Hurdy-Gurdy and many more. They create a sound which is new, fresh and exciting but keeping the strong traditional influences that they all grew up with embedded in their tunes.
