Sometimes when you’ve done something for a long time , you want to try something new. That’s exactly what singer / songwriter Jeff Gutteridge wanted and that’s what he’s doing. Something new. Having fronted Canadian rock band looking for Heather for over 28 years , Jeff felt it was time to step outside the huge , melodic stadium rock that looking for Heather was known for and opt for a more subtle , refined sound. Call it folk, country , Alt country, Jeff doesn’t care as long as you see it as one thing : HONEST.

Jeff strips things down to reveal nothing but honest lyrics and emotional vocals amidst a more raw back to basics presentation on his debut album “Dark Country”.

Recorded entirely by Jeff in his studio, “Dark Country” is 8 songs showcasing Jeff’s diverse writing style. The first single “Sometimes you know the truth” is a mid tempo , full band arrangement about being in a relationship and knowing it’s not going well but you carry on because you didn’t realize in the moment things weren’t healthy.

Make no mistake “Dark Country” is a singer / songwriters album but it is not an acoustic record. It’s much more but also much less. The songs arrangements are sparse letting the lyrics take centre stage here and while acoustic guitar is a primary instrument , there are drums , electric guitars and keyboard, whatever was needed to translate the SONG.

Jeff will be performing the album throughout 2023.
