About this concert
Immerse yourself in an electrifying matinee performance of ‘The Songs Of Elvis Costello…Live!’ as local post-punk luminary Victor Stranges accompanied by his band, The Futurists, takes the stage on Sunday May 26th at Sooki Lounge in Belgrave. The venue is a vibrant hub for live music nestled in the arts and social scene in the hills, Dandenong Ranges, Melbourne.
This is not your typical tribute spectacle with costume changes but instead it is a heartfelt celebration of The Futurists' deep appreciation for both the hits and the lesser-known treasures from Elvis Costello's early to mid career. Over the course of almost two hours the four-piece ensemble will deliver two sets drawing from Costello's first two decades in the music industry spanning 'My Aim Is True' (1977) to 'All This Useless Beauty' (1996).
Baby Animals founding member and lead guitarist, Dave Leslie will be joining the band on bass guitar along with original Futurists members Frank Scalzo (drums) and Mike Dupp (keyboards).
From well-known radio favourites like ‘Alison', 'Watching The Detectives’, 'Oliver's Army’, 'Pump It Up’, 'Everyday I Write The Book’ to the more obscure album tracks, this performance promises to be the ultimate indulgence for devoted Elvis Costello fans.

Victor Stranges Biography
Victor Stranges grew up in a city in industrial Melbourne (Australia). As a teenager in the late 1980s he was the drummer in underground punk group, Drunk ‘n’ Disorderly. This Clash/Stiff Little Fingers infused experience was a common one for Melbourne bands at the time; loud music, beer, violence and, er...more beer. Billed with other acts at the time including Weddings Parties Anything, The Johnnys, Celibate Rifles and Bastard Squad, the band gained a reputation for drawing a loyal and enthusiastic following.
