Mrs Frighthouse Biography
Mrs Frighthouse is an avant-garde noise metal duo made up of wives Catti and Luna.
They show unflinching levels of disinhibition and lyrical directness when writing about traumatic experiences.
They directly confront issues of misogyny, homophobia and transphobia via human stories that show the very real consequences of these social issues.
The band name "Mrs Frighthouse" came about from the fact that they really are "Mrs and Mrs". "Queerbaiting" and the sexualisation of queer women for the male gaze have been rife for decades, while portraying genuine romance and commitment between two women unfortunately still remains subversive. The pair want to combat the invisibility and erasure queer women experience with their music they’ve termed sapphic metal.
Musically they have a diverse range of inspiration, from industrial metal to musical theatre – some of their main influences include GGGOLDDD, Nine Inch Nails, Edith Piaf, Chat Pile, Steven Sondheim, and The Paper Chase.
They released their debut single "Eyeliner" on the 1st December 2023, and have been compared to Lingua Ignota, The Body, Ministry, and “the slower more obscure early Slipknot songs”.
