About this concert
The Soundpost Sessions is a concert series that supports the Colorado music scene by providing a listening-room experience emphasizing great sound quality. The series features primarily original acts, both local and touring. The shows occur at The Times Collaborative in downtown Longmont. NATALIE SPEARS Natalie Spears brings listeners in touch with the warmth of community, the quiet awe of wild places, and the intimate corners of humanity. Inspired by her father's English Folk heritage, his talents as a jazz pianist, and her own explorations, Natalie carries a deep love for both musical tradition and evolution. Drawing on these roots and pulling from a quiver of instruments (banjo, piano, and guitar), her performance is dynamic as she navigates between tonal worlds. Natalie’s angelic voice threads together a sonic language of both nostalgic and contemporary colors, creating a vibrant musical narrative of her own. She has toured throughout the nation playing venues such as the John Hartford Memorial Festival, Blackpot Festival, Palisade Folk and Roots Festival, and Tico Bluegrass Festival. In 2021, Natalie’s duo, Lizzy Plotkin & Natalie Spears, released their debut EP, “Just Over the Ridge,” and her song Seasons Change reached #4 song of the year on the Folk Alliance International DJ Folk Charts. She is currently recording her debut solo record, “The Hymn Of Wild Things,” and touring her music in listening rooms, living rooms, and at festivals. ANTONIO LOPEZ Here We Are, the new album by Antonio Lopez, explores the intimate connection between our hopes, dreams, and fears. Here We Are is an alluring collection of songs written by an artist wrestling with his ego as he chases success and slow dances with failure. Through the lens of his indigenous Chicano roots, Lopez speaks many truths with gentle precision. His songwriting is lyric-forward folk, with marimba swells and swooning Spanish guitar flourishes on top of a rock-solid rhythm section. Rather than tell the listener what to feel or think, Lopez invites you to see yourself reflected in the stories and cinematic soundscapes. Speaking about the album's name, Lopez says, "Part of being human is spending a lot of time in our heads with our thoughts. Often, we consume ourselves with recollecting the past or dreaming up the future. I named this album "Here We Are" as a reminder that life occurs in the present moment. Another reason why I chose to name it "Here We Are" is to acknowledge the intrinsic connection between all living things. All living things depend on their environment to supply their needs. Thanks to my family, friends, and fans for being my support system." This album was a collaborative effort. Antonio's bandmates contributed significantly to the creative vision: Chad E. Mathis, Jonathan Sadler, and Christopher Scott Wright.
