Rebekah Hood-Sava

Join us for a (multimedia) performance of Rebekah’s new album, Journey. Journey consists of 8 tracks inspired by the symbolic journey through inner creativity. With the help of layered and looped cello, you’re invited to journey through layers of emotions and layers of the psyche of a one-woman orchestra. Some compositional elements come from her formal classical training, and others from the music she’s inspired by, from minimalism and ambient to crossover and singer-songwriters. The album was mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning sound engineer Oz Fritz. Rebekah uses live sampling with a looping pedal in order to layer the sound of her instruments, creating rhythmically dense musical structures. She will also perform selections from her previous album, Emerge, as well as classical minimalist music. The concert will be a multi-media experience featuring Radu Sava's nature films and Aurora Borealis lighting. Rebekah is a classically trained artist writing music with a contemporary film music twist within post-minimalist and contemporary classical styles. After enjoying years of performing, founding the Veridian String Quartet and Veridian Symphony Orchestra, and Suzuki teaching in the classical vein, Rebekah found an original voice in layered looping melodies.
