Mockingbird Canyon Road Biography

We started this group here in Nashville back in 2022. We're so proud to bring our music to you, recorded and live.

Leo Francis, our wonderful drummer, comes to Nashville from Boston, Massachusetts. Has been playing drums most of his life. He's played with bands back in the 80s and 90s, in various original projects. He has played in acoustic and cover bands as well over the years. Leo moved to Nashville in 2021 and hooked up with the guys who were to become MCR.

Steven Gary comes from the San Francisco bay area. He got his first guitar when he was 6 years old. He's gone through various instruments, including trumpet then went to playing bass when he started playing in bands. He later moved to Hollywood to work and also found himself on a cruise ship in the Caribbean and became the ship's Music Director. He too, moved to the Nashville scene in 2021 to focus on his songwriting, which has been a lifelong passion for Gary.

Don Panzik has been a musician for practically his whole life as well. Starting out on the drums as a child, began singing and playing other various instruments through his pre-teen years. He had been a songwriter since the inquisitive age of 7. During his teen years he founded several bands, including the role as the Choir Director in his senior high school year. During the 80s and 90s he was a touring entertainer throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico. He too found himself in Nashville (2020) where he hooked up with the rest of the MCR gang.

SONGWRITING COLLABORATION (the saga begins)

Steven and Don got together in 2022 to begin a songwriting collaboration. Various songs came out of those initial sessions, such as "Make Me Whole", "Redneck Lounge", "World Of Our Own" and "Devil Ain't Done With Me Yet", to name a few. They had started out as a songwriting duo "Panzik/Gary" and wanted to reach out to promote their music to the world - thus entering...

Livestream Personality and Filmmaker, John Henry Soto (JHS). Originally from the Bronx in New York City, John began playing guitar at a very early age, particularly Spanish music. As a young boy he got really excited about Santana's music. "What the hell is that? I wanna do that!!" His history with playing in bands is mainly in original bands, as opposed to cover bands. Steve & Don had approached John in 2022 about marketing and promoting the Panzik/Gary brand. However, knowing JHS's powerful guitar chops, the duo presented the notion of him joining up to form the band. A bit hesitant at first, he reconsidered the idea after hearing the songs that were suggested.

From there with the awesome drumming & vocals of Leo, Mockingbird Canyon Road was formed.
The band name came from the state bird of Tennessee as well as the address of Panzik's southern California ranch prior to moving to the Nashville area.
