Mad Season Biography
Formed in late 1994, Mad Season was a Seattle supergroup founded by guitarist Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, drummer Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees, vocalist Layne Staley of Alice In Chains, and blues bassist John Baker Saunders. Their debut album, Above, was released in 1995 and achieved gold status (500,000 copies) within a few weeks. In 2013, the surviving members finished 3 new songs from an unreleased second album that were sung by Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees. Those 3 new songs, as well as 2 concert films and several live recordings were released as a deluxe edition box set. In 2015, Mike McCready and Barrett Martin performed in a Mad Season tribute concert with the Seattle Symphony, which also featured Duff McKagan of Guns & Roses on bass, and Chris Cornell of Soundgarden on vocals.
