BLUEM + The Murk Prinx Biography
BLUEM is a bilingual singer, songwriter, guitarist and composer originally from Belgium. They started songwriting at 13, wrote a musical at 15 and studied musical composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London for their bachelor. Their songs are a mix of pop, rock, jazz and blues. Their main influences are Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey, P!nk and LP. BLUEM uses their platforms to spotlight social and political issues such as the climate crisis, gender and racial inequalities.
BLUEM released their debut single in April 2021 titled ‘Justice Eyes’. This song was written in response to the numerous protests after the murder of George Floyd in summer 2020 and the power of communities to come together for real change.
Their style has been described as ‘fresh’ and ‘smooth’ and their lyrics and tone ‘capturing the feelings of an old soul, making their sound universal and appealing to mass audiences’.
They are currently working on their debut EP ‘WoMan’ which will focus on gender, LGBT+ right and the dysphoria of being born in a society not interested to survive past the next generation. They have recently moved to Berlin to pursue their career as a singer-songwriter.
