Miss Monster Biography
Miss Monster is a dynamic band based in Washington, DC. An electrifying blend of old-school rock and soulful funk, Miss Monster's music features powerful lead vocals, ripping guitar solos, jazzy keys, and one of the tightest rhythm sections in the city. Formed in 2021, Miss Monster first appeared as the backing band for Ben Creel Suarez (The Hipsnacks, Bencoolen). Since then, Miss Monster has restructured and co-headlined Pearl Street Warehouse and opened for Giacomo Turra, Phillip-Michael Scales, William Tyler, and the legendary John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band.
The band released their first two singles, "(Hold on to the) Holocene" and "Wrong Kind", released in April and May 2024. The songs are true to the band’s energy and live arrangements, featuring shredding guitar solos and unexpected multi-part vocal harmonies. “(Hold onto the) Holocene” examines falling out of love before melting down to an infectious bass groove and solo section that culminates with a soaring, harmonized chorus. “Wrong Kind” layers funky keys with an upbeat, soulful vocal line, and twists into a singing guitar solo that harkens back to the Top Gun era.
Miss Monsters' other projects, Bencoolen and Miss Moon, have toured around the East Coast, opening for acts such as Marcus King, Big Something, and Nate Smith. They have appeared at major music festivals, including Firefly and Musikfest, and have performed at venues like the 9:30 Club in DC and Brooklyn Bowl.
