Phil J. Biography
Phil J. is an Alabama native, born and raised in Mobile. His career has grown and shaped into something incredible over the years. Phil’s musical genre is more so genreless, but if he were to name it, it’d be called, “popfunk”. He’s created a sound so unique that he can be easily distinguished from any artist, with a mixture of everything, yet still embodying who he is. Artists that inspire his style are Jon Bellion, Andy Mineo, Nic D and Anderson .Paak. He started off in Christian music because that’s where he and his brother began making music together. As time passed, he began pursuing a road outside of the Christian music industry, but still holding on to his beliefs and values.
He began slowly making the switch to more music outside of the Christian industry with his album, “Joy”, an album dedicated to his brother who passed in 2021. The most streamed song on that album was “Saucy”. It’s generated some attention for Phil and has been on a Hulu TV series called, “Good Trouble”. He partnered with RMG Amplify in 2020 and has performed at A3C and SXSW. He has shared the stage with artist Xavier Omär, Mannywellz and Kenyon Dixon.
