About this concert
Edward Randell takes to the Crazy Coqs stage to launch his debut album, Homing Instinct, which finds the London singer-songwriter celebrating domesticity after a decade on the road. Blending 1970s mellowness with flourishes of theatricality, the record sounds like James Taylor and Rufus Wainwright sharing a pot of English Breakfast, with a stellar cast of collaborators from the London jazz and alt-folk scenes including co-producer Chris Hyson (Snowpoet, Jordan Rakei).
Edward’s previous solo releases have been featured on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Devon. As a member of the Grammy-winning vocal group The Swingles between 2012 and 2022, he appeared on the world’s most hallowed stages, from Ronnie Scott’s to La Scala.
His songs and arrangements for the group featured in collaborations with Kurt Elling, The Ayoub Sisters and Gareth Malone, and won multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. After an early brush with the film business at 13 when he appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Edward now works prolifically as a session vocalist, singing on film scores including No Time To Die, Cruella and The Marvels, and co-writing a song for the 2017 film Downsizing.
