Above Jupiter Biography
Like the many moons of their namesake, Above Jupiter was formed from cosmic dust encircling their own hometown of Memphis, TN. In Above Jupiter’s case, those particles include inspiring elements of the Memphis arts and music scene, both past and present.
Lifelong friends Noah Hand (bass) & Graham Burks, III (drums) realized early on that Noah’s pursuit of art was a perfect compliment to Graham’s multi-instrumental and production skills, and the two began writing and planning concepts for multiple music releases. As their initial batch of songs was beginning to form, the gravity of Memphis's iconic Stax Music Academy had begun to pull them in. At Stax they connected with other talented musicians including Zariya Scullark (guitar), and another lifelong friend Desmond Coppin (keys).
Orbiting their core of Memphis soul are the diverse sounds of art-rock pioneers David Bowie & Talking Heads to innovators of the 90s and 2000s such as Beck & Gorillaz. The animation styles of TheOdd1sOut occupy just as important of a space as Toby Fox’s Undertale video game soundtrack in Above Jupiter’s orbit.
Above Jupiter released their debut four-song EP, DEMO in January 2024. The lead single “Details” features a music video that was directed, animated, & edited by the band’s Noah Hand. The band recently completed recording of their first LP, due in Spring of 2024.
