About this concert
Brass Camel returns home from their nine week, coast-to-coast "Over the Hump" tour and celebrates with a homecoming bash at the Pearl featuring Post Modern Connection. BRASS CAMEL Brass Camel is a unique Vancouver-based rock group made up of five experienced young musicians, their collective accomplishments include performing at New York's Apollo Theater, jamming with guitar icon Les Paul, racking up countless studio sessions and covering hundreds of thousands of miles on the road before coming together. Recently having released their debut album, mixed by multiple Juno-winner Ben Kaplan, Brass Camel's singular sound mashes together the diverse influences of prog, funk, blues rock and fusion then ties them together with the kind of neat bow only attained by five musicians who are gunning for glory on the same frequency. The band's musicianship, songwriting and work ethic have led to endorsements from such companies as Sabian, Rotosound UK and Los Cabos. After a string of consecutive sell-out shows in Vancouver, the Camel embarked on their first national tour of Canada, a successful 13,500km undertaking. Capping off a transformative 2023 with a performance alongside Five Alarm Funk at a sold out Commodore Ballroom, Brass Camel is embarking on a ten week coast-to-coast tour of Canada in spring 2024 which aims to set the stage for the band to tour extensively in the months and years to come. POST MODERN CONNECTION: Post-Modern Connection, an indie gem formed in 2016 by university friends Georges and Tega, are creating something special for those lucky enough to find them. In the ever-expanding indie music landscape, Post-Modern Connection has carved a unique space for themselves with their particular blend of indie rock meets jazz rejects, meets surf rock, held together by soulful, crooning vocals and infectious instrumentals. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Summer Salt, Hippocampus, Peach Pit, and Vacations their sound has captivated audiences and critics alike. In November 2023, Post-Modern Connection unveiled their Sophomore EP, “A Welcome Change,” a sonic journey that received critical acclaim from CBC, Much Music, Exclaim, The Georgia Straight, and Range Magazine. The Project topped the NACC & Earshot Charts at #36 and #23 respectively and amassed over 400,000 streams in 2 short months. Produced by Tyler Niel Johnson, known for his work with Austin Basham, John Vincent, and Joshua Hyslop, the EP captures the essence of Post-Modern Connection’s unique sound, and highlights their maturity and growth as artists. A Welcome Change feels like a coming of age project in the way it’s captured the feeling of transitioning from the carefreeness of youth and nostalgic beginnings to stepping into the world as your own person. The group has graced the stages of prominent festivals, including Riddlandia and Breakout West, where their electrifying performances leave audiences enthralled. As they continue to evolve and refine their craft one thing is certain, Post-Modern Connection is one to watch out for.
