Katie Dietz Biography

Katie Dietz is a Naples-based musician originally from Richmond Virginia, moving to Florida at 14 years old and starting high school there. According to her father Jamie, she has been singing since she could talk. Katie says her love for music comes from her father’s love for it. Her father would sing practically everything to her as a child, from “good morning songs” to helping her memorize important numbers and phrases with songs. She exchanged weekends staying between her mom’s and dad’s houses.

In 2017 she moved to Florida with her father, stepmom, and her half-brother and sister. Leaving her mom in Virginia, she visited her for a weekend every month, ending a year later. The summer before her sophomore year in Florida, her mother suffered a heart attack and passed on in a matter of days. Being her best friend and her mom’s only child, Katie was left to handle her own emotional pain and she took to learning guitar, something she despised learning, on her own to prove to herself she could do it.

After a while of practicing with YouTube and online lessons in her room, she began to enjoy playing the guitar and learned how to sing along with it. Just before graduation, she discovered defMEDIA’s Darrell Nutt following a quick google search of “producers in my area”. He saw exceptional talent in Katie and excitedly agreed to produce and record the originals she had created in junior and senior year of high school.

A month after graduating and singing the national anthem for it in 2021 , she started her own career singing in hotels, bars, and private parties with the help of her father and a push of extra confidence from her peers. As of July 2023, she has been playing gigs for two years. Since creating an “unofficial” business in entertainment, her excitement and motivation for success only increases.

For her whole life, Katie has wanted to be a musician and the production of her first self titled album, Katie Dietz, as well as her father's never-ending support, only furthered that dream. Katie says she’d like everyone to enjoy her music in their own individual ways and use music as a tool to make life easier.
