Deejay Commish Biography

The artistry of being a DJ is a rare gift. There are but a few DJs who understand the value of this gift and DJ Commish is one of them.
Born and raised in the birthplace of hip-hop, Bronx, NY, William “DJ Commish” Lewis knew early on he would embrace music as a way of life. In just over a decade he has catapulted his career from Urban Music Director as a student at St. John University’s WSJU radio station to an intern at Elektra Records to one of New York City’s most well-known DJs.
Influenced by the legendary talents of Red Alert, Pete Rock, DJ AM
and Funk Master Flex, to name a few, Commish has found his niche in providing sounds and experiences that are transformational for his fans and clients, alike. From his
weekly sets at professional after-work mixers at New York’s top restaurants and lounges to his signature South N’ The City parties, fans and party-goers love him for his musical versatility and energy. And whether he is spinning a private in-store event for Loehmann’s or perhaps delivering a musical experience for the most esteemed guests at BET’s BET Honors, his clients appreciate his undeniable quality and consistent reliability and professionalism.
The experience that complements DJ Commish simply, feels good. His ability to musically influence the atmosphere with ‘two turn tables and a microphone’ is unparalleled. His sounds can be heard in more than 62 million homes weekly through Music Choice television radio and throughout New York City at any number of corporate, charity or social events. Commish has also found an avenue to engage his audience through social media. Through his platforms on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Blogger, he engages with more than 5,000 fans and clients on a daily basis.
When DJ Commish isn’t spinning he’s a sports junkie; particularly when it comes to watching college basketball. He also enjoys attending live sports games, traveling and of course, food.
His client roster includes corporations: BET Networks, MTV Networks, Capitol Records, Urban World Film Festival, Loehmann’s and Boost Mobile; celebrities: Heidi Klum, Justin Bieber, Derek Jeter, Diddy, Gabrielle Union and Tracey Ellis Ross; and civic and community organizations: Sips For Sickle Cell, Suit Dreams, Democratic Leadership Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. A full list of clients available upon request.
