About this concert
Cupid's Heart on tour! Come and celebrate a music tour kick off and single release in the hometown of Cupid's Heart. See you at Rock Trout Cafe for an incredible night of music with Cupid's Heart, Sunset Embassy (Regina), and Actor Director (Saskatoon). New single from Cupid's Heart, Pick Me Up will be available. Featuring fantastic food options for purchase by guest chef Mel from Funky Fresh! Their tour will take them from Prince Albert to Toronto and back. Make sure to follow the fun. Cupid's Heart: A combination of the unruly and the refined- Cupid’s Heart uses cello, electric guitar, drum machine, and low female vocals in an exploration of alt-rock. Moody and dynamic, Cupid’s Heart weaves together an energizing, entrancing atmosphere. Previously described as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana”, alternative rock fits them like a baggy sweater. Lyrically poetic, Cupid’s Heart expresses some of the complexities that go along with love and life, and does so from a queer female perspective. The pair are currently based in Prince Albert, SK. Their debut EP, Atrium, was released July 2023, a year that also saw the pair nominated for a SaskMusic Award. Sunset Embassy: Sunset Embassy kicks out urban prairie rock jams with sounds from the 80's/90's vibing on today's feelings. These ambassadors of the setting sun surround you like the valley with hot summer guitar licks and dreamy cool evening echoes. Sunset Embassy pulls inspiration from strong women and seeks to diversify the music scene in Saskatchewan and beyond. The band is fronted by two Indigenous women: Anishinabe guitar player and songwriter Jori Cachene (she/her), and Cree vocalist Sophie Littlechief Carteri (she/her), and is rounded out by three queer musicians: bassist Charity Marsh (she/her), keyboardist Jaecy Bells (she/her), and drummer Collette Parks (they/them). Based in Treaty 4 Territory aka Regina, Saskatchewan, Sunset Embassy delivers music to dodge potholes to. Formed at GRR! music camp in 2019 out of dreams of forever. Sunset Embassy has played at Regina Folk Fest, Cathedral Village Arts Festival, and has opened for Megan Nash, Dump Babes Actor Director: Actor Director weaves sounds of fuzzy electronic basslines, synth chords, and tender vocals to create sonic compositions that strike a stark contrast to their previous musical outlets of acoustic folk and brat-punk. The music encompasses a mix of programming, looping, improvisation, non-standard structures, conceptual lyricism, and experimental production, creating Prairie-based electro-pop. Cupid's Heart Biography

A combination of the unruly and the refined, Cupid’s Heart uses cello, electric guitar, drum machine, and low female vocals for a grungy take on alt-rock that fits them like a baggy sweater. Sonically described by Scott Roos of North Sask Music Zine as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana”, Cupid’s Heart expresses some of the complexities that go along with love and life, and does so from a queer female perspective. The duo, composed of Emma Jean and Stacey Dunn, is currently based in the Northern community of Prince Albert, SK, a small city that hovers on the edge of Saskatchewan’s Boreal wilderness. Cupid’s Heart released their debut EP, Atrium, July of 2023 and has seen airplay on multiple community and college radio stations across Canada. They have played multiple out of province shows since forming in May of 2022, and 2023 saw the pair nominated for a SaskMusic Award. They look forward to releasing new music in 2024.
