Vågspel

Rooted in the musical tradition of Västergötland, Vågspel experiment and captivate their audiences with ‘’party polskor’’ and enchanting melodies. Vågspel holds strong interplay at its core. They bring a playfulness to the stage that never leaves dance too far away.

In 2015, the duo won the title of Young Folk Band of the Year at Folkmusiknatta in Falun and have since played on the largest folk music stages in Sweden. Vågspel's debut album was released in 2017 and the following year the duo was crowned Newcomer of the Year at the Folk and World Music Gala in Norrköping. In the spring of 2022, Vågspel was chosen Ensemble in Residence at Musik i Syd. In August of 2022, the duo released their second album I nöd och lust.

Alice Klint and Kristin Kennemark each have a bachelor's degree in classical music, which contributes to the high technical level and provides a freedom in both violin playing and composing. Vågspel mixes traditional folk music with their own compositions, creating music that is rhythmic, melodic, innovative and playful. The compositions are imprints of their time - shaped by both its sorrows and happiness. The friendship between the musicians is the foundation of the duo’s performance. Together, they explore life's big emotions!
