Heartbent Biography

Heartbent is a high energy Emo band from Baltimore, Maryland. With musical influence ranging from Pop-Punk to Emo to Metalcore to Post-Hardcore to Progressive Metal, Heartbent makes music for their listeners to mosh to, to cry to, and to party to!

Heartbent began as a concept created by lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Alex "Folmzz" Folmer in 2017. After trying to bring the project to life, Alex ultimately shelved the project to focus on his solo music. Two years later, Alex would meet drummer Austin Collins while promoting his solo music, and the two hit it off. The duo began rehearsing and began putting songs together with hopes to record an EP and play shows within the next few months.

In February of 2020, Heartbent would be put on pause as Alex checked into rehab. During that time, Austin recruited lead guitarist Neel Massey, and the two would begin writing songs for the band. Once Alex was out of rehab, the three began sharing their ideas with each other, and in October, they would begin rehearsing the ideas they came up with.

Heartbent's first show was October 30th, 2020 in Darlington, MD. The trio would open for Vendetta, Astral Castle, and Dark Entity. And at this show, the band would meet their bassist/co-vocalist Elle Saulsbury. The four piece would have their first rehearsal November 5th.

"The five of us have a very strong personal and musical bond that fuels our creative process" -Alex

Heartbent would enter the studio in December to begin work on their first single titled "Addict", which was released January 3rd, 2021. After the single was released, the band went back into the studio to finish up work on their first EP which would be titled the Addict EP. The full EP was released on Valentine's Day; February 14th, 2021. The EP was on the more Pop-Punk/Emo side. Heartbent would continue writing music and would continue playing shows throughout the spring and summer of 2021, and the band threw their own music festival called the Hotbent Summer Festival.

Heartbent would return to the studio during the summer of 2021 to begin working on their next EP which would be called Poser Party. The EP would be released on November 5th, 2021 and it was a more polished sounding version of their Addict EP. Once again, this EP was on the Pop-Punk/Emo side.

December 17th, 2021 would be a big night for the band. After playing numerous shows in smaller venues, Heartbent had the opportunity to play at the Recher in Towson, MD with Baltimore's Transcendent Events booking agency. This would be the band's biggest show so far, and a massive accomplishment for the band. After all of the hard work they have put into the music and into the band, all of it was being paid off.

Heartbent would go on to release two non-album singles in 2022: Jump Off and False Hope. They would later go on to release three album singles in 2023: Take Control, I Swear and Agony.

Heartbent would release their most recent single House Of Mirrors to all platforms January 12th, 2024

Heartbent is currently in the process of finalizing their debut album, which will be a departure from their Pop-Punk sound. The band plans on moving in a more Post-Hardcore/Emo/Metalcore direction musically and lyrically.
