Oscar Bohorquez Biography

The German violinist of South American origin Oscar Bohórquez studied at the Curtis Institute of
Music in Philadelphia with Prof. Aaron Rosand from 1998 to 2002, and at
the University of Music in Vienna with Prof. Günter Pichler of the Alban
Berg Quartet from 2002 to 2008.
Since then concert tours have taken him to major venues throughout
Germany such as the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, the Frankfurt Alte Oper,
the Leipzig Gewandhaus, and the Berlin Philharmonie.
The 20th September 2009 marked Oscar Bohórquez’s debut with the
London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Solo and chamber music activities have also taken him throughout Europe,
the US, and Latin America including the Salon de Provence Chamber
Music Festival in France, and the Kronberg Chamber Music Festival in
Germany. Oscar’s career was featured on a SWR radio podcast produced
in Baden-Baden, an RBB TV and radio interview in Berlin and articles of the
Berliner Morgenpost.
Oscar has recorded with the Patagonia Express Trio the ‘Ruta 100 Piazzolla’ Album. Oscar also released the J.S.Bach
Solo Sonatas and the 24 Paganini Caprices. Oscar Bohórquez plays a rare ‘Guarneri del Gesù’ violin from 1729.
