Angela Aux Biography

Angela Aux has been on a mission between pop and underground, anti-folk and avant-pop. A notorious songwriter and oddball; mastermind of Aloa Input, typewriter performances and music for films, feet in the here and now and head firmly in the clouds; buoyant, poignant and whimsical.

His live shows can be solo performance or full band hoedowns, communal gatherings for those in the know no matter what. Lush choirs melt into scrappy hobo lyrics while musical references from Beck to Velvet Underground; Mac De Marco via the Beatles via Justin Vernon get transported into a parallel universe. Only fitting that the stagewear recently got transformed to full-on alien mode.

And while Angela Aux takes form the past, the speak of the future while confounding the present. Their newest album „Instinctive Travels on the Paths of Space and Time“ is part of a triptych in which this graduate of Political Sciences also authored a sci-fi novel and a staged play. Musically, it drafts a future of mankind in hybrid folk songs that owe as much to Neil Young as they do to Dilla.

On the five Angela Aux full-lengths released since 2011 the project’s scope has been continuously expanding - as have the critical acclaim and reach - reaching a first apogee with 2019’s "In Love with the Demons". Since then, Angela Aux have found their way into international playlists, Netflix soundtracks („Biohackers”) and movies („Mein Sohn”), fascinates the worldwide radio landscape from FIP Radio France, KEXP to Triple J and gathering millions of streams along the way.
