About this concert
Pingipung Labelnight:
MD Pallavi & Andi Otto (live)
Cole Pulice (live)
Heiko Gogolin (DJ)
The South Indian singer MD Pallavi and the Hamburg cellist Andi Otto present their latest album "Songs For Broken Ships", which opens up a fascinating spectrum between acoustic ragas, jazzy improvisations with an electronic sound and dance tracks. The album was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award, among others. "The two succeed in [...] creating wondrous synergy", says Lev Nordstrom on greedyforbestmusic.
The evening will be opened by Californian saxophonist Cole Pulice, who has developed a unique fusion of tenor saxophone and electronics. Evan Minsker describes Cole Pulice on Pitchfork as an "endlessly exploratory musician who is creating the experimental jazz tapes of your dreams," and includes the current single in the 2023 best list.
All artists release their music on the Hamburg label Pingipung, who presents the evening and provides a very fine support programme with vinyl DJs.
