About this concert
Malin Andersson launches her second album “Space To Feel” with a special full band performance at London’s intimate SJQ. Malin is a Swedish singer, songwriter and producer who has found her creative home in the vibrant music scene of London. With a sound that blends her Scandinavian heritage with her global experiences, she describes her music as sensitively stylized folk and released her debut album “Follow” in 2018. With influences ranging from artists such as Joni Mitchell, José González, Ane Brun, Damien Rice, Anna Ternheim, Ben Howard and Bon Iver to author Virginia Woolf and Swedish poets Edith Södergran and Karin Boye, Malin's music paints vivid emotional landscapes. Having grown up close to nature, the delicate and minimal soundscapes that are established in her songs reflect the sound of the wilderness and honest Scandinavian simplicity. Malin’s forthcoming second album “Space To Feel” explores her journey being a ‘Highly Sensitive Person’, travelling through the emotions that come with leaving a place of tranquillity and entering the hustle and bustle of London. This album shows Malin's development in living with this personality trait, promoting awareness and diminishing negativity towards showing sensitivity. “Space To Feel” has garnered consistent backing from esteemed radio stations including BBC Radio London, Scotland, Ulster and Radio X. Her musical endeavours have been met with acclaim in press reviews from notable platforms such as Fresh On The Net, Essentially Pop and When the Horn Blows. “Space To Feel” is released on April 5th, 2024. “I’m a big fan of Malin Andersson, both her sound and her music. I also just love her thinking behind the songs” – Eve Blair (The Late Show), BBC Radio Ulster “Epic in a sensitive kind of way. The influence of Joni Mitchell is apparent here but Malin is very much her own artist” – Fresh On the Net “This is an artist who is moving towards an enchanting sound that manages to be both ‘food for thought’ & something to soothe your soul” – Essentially Pop

Malin Andersson Biography

London based singer songwriter Malin Andersson describes her music as sensitively stylized folk. Her influences range from Joni Mitchel, Joan Baez, and Anna Ternheim. The delicate and minimal soundscapes that are established in her songs are derivative from her Swedish roots. Close your eyes as you listen to each song and discover a tale, where each verse is a melancholic chapter in her life followed by elevating choruses that leaves you wanting more.

Malin’s style of gentle finger picking guitar mixed with contemplative lyrics and evocative melodies has caught the attention of SKAP (Swedish Society of Songwriters Composers and Authors), being presented the “SKAP for emerging artists/songwriters” Award. The prestigious honour was given to emerging artists/songwriters, and this helped to establish the start of Malin’s solo career.

Since moving to London, she has been working with an independent record label, collaborating with other songwriters/producers and played over a hundred shows at legendary venues including The Lexington and Union Chapel to name but a few. Malin’s new upcoming album, “Space to Feel” explores her journey being a ‘Highly Sensitive Person’, travelling through the emotions that come with leaving a place of tranquillity and entering the hustle and bustle of London Town. This album shows Malin's development in living with the personality trait, promoting awareness and diminishing negativity towards showing sensitivity.
