The Big Sticky Band Biography

Founded in New York City in 2009, The Big Sticky Band is a collective made up of artists from a wide variety of musical backgrounds.

Rock and Roll, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Mountain Music, Punk, Country and The Great American Song Book are all blended together to create a diverse and deeply satisfying entertainment experience. We feature original material as well as covers. We have performed over 250 titles from our constantly expanding catalog.

The original run of The Big Sticky Band (2009-2011) included residencies at New World Stages' prestigious Time Out New York Lounge, the wonderfully seedy Port 41/Tobacco Road by Port Authority, and the unsuspecting Patrick Ryan's Pub in Harlem.

It was early summer in 2011 when the band suffered a notorious and contentious break-up. A string of unfortunate events included, but were not limited to: the commandeering of a city bus, a destructive herd of stampeding goats, four taxis packed with angry tourists and a death metal band from Staten Island, a high speed bariatric power wheelchair chase down the FDR, the unscheduled severing of electrical power for an entire zipcode, as well as the typically exorbitant medical bills associated with these events.

After a long, dark, decade long winter, the band finally reunited in 2019 with a triumphant return to NYC's legendary Otto's Shrunken Head! It was at this very venue they had played one of their last shows in early 2011. The Return Of The Big Sticky Band had officially begun!

Enjoying a critically acclaimed string of performances through 2020, the band performed their most recent show to date at Connelly's Bar and Restaurant, just off Times Square on February 29, 2020. It was truly a Leap Day extravaganza!

This incredibly special evening featured Big Sticky's reunion with special guests Bobby Kane, Phil Robinson, Yorgos Maniatis, and the New York City Fire Department. It was a memorable, magical night of great music, sudden plumes of thick white smoke, and (for an encore) the orderly evacuation of the entire building.

But sadly, trouble was in the air. It was the very next morning that we woke up to news of New York's first case of "the bug." Together we would experience life without live music for more than a year. Still, there was hope within the mystery and majesty of the Catskill Mountains where a few band members enjoyed a smattering of live outdoor performances over the summer season, but there was nothing for the full band.

As I write this in May of 2021, we are positively ELATED to announce that we will be presenting the Revenge Of The Return Of The Big Sticky Band! We're looking forward to bringing live music back to our friends and fans, from New York City to the Catskill Mountains. Special guest Ben Cadillac (of Cadillac Dorman) will also be on hand to join us as we celebrate life, love, and the transformative power of music.

Stay tuned for exciting news and updates as we continue to plan our summer season! See you down the road folks!
