Higher Arkies Biography

Higher Arkies Brings Northwest Arkansas Rock Scene Up an Octave
Bringing a refreshed sound to the Northwest Arkansas music scene, Higher Arkies is a collaboration of former Eye for a Lie members Gil Comeaux, Shane Magie, Pamela Tegtmeyer, and Jonathon Tegtmeyer, as well as newcomer Marson Nance.

Higher Arkies has an energetic style that harkens back to the classic days of the Grunge and Modern Rock scenes of the late 90’s and early 2000’s, while giving it a new spin accessible to contemporary audiences. The band’s ability to play both acoustic and electric rock creates diverse soundscapes which guitarist Marson describes as “fresh, but familiar.” Gil adds, “By starting out playing shows acoustically and later transitioning to electric, it feels like we’re going in reverse. However, performing in a live setting with acoustic guitars and a cajon ensures that everyone is listening to each other.”

Featuring rich and soulful vocals, Pam’s voice has been described by The Free Weekly as “deep, yet harmonic.” When sharing the stage with Halestorm, Lizzie Hale tweeted “Pam = Lungs With Legs!” Higher Arkies’ dynamic stage presence and deeply personal songs continue to resonate with listeners and leave audiences in awe, bringing rock back to Northwest Arkansas one song at a time.

While the band is based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the members’ musical adventures have been uniquely varied. Gil and Shane have shared the stage with Slipknot, Chevelle, and Staind among numerous other rock heavyweights. Eye for a Lie was a staple of the Northwest Arkansas music scene from 2012 to 2017, playing shows with Trapt, Halestorm, and Finger Eleven, while also being a favorite among the bike night and festival crowds. Marson is a veteran of progressive and acoustic rock bands in western North Carolina, co-founding the progressive rock band Second Phase of the Sun. Marson played electric guitar behind acoustic singer-songwriter Will Wills and shared the stage at the House of Blues in New Orleans with Nashville recording artist Stefan Miller.

Higher Arkies is ready to take the Northwest Arkansas music scene by storm. With their unique sound and undeniable talent, they are sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone who sees them play a live show.
