About this concert
Vocalist, multi instrumentalist and producer IKSRE - aka Phoebe Dubar’s music has been described by critics as “at the delicate intersection of the natural world in fissure with atmospheric electronics and instruments” (The Wire Magazine); “a techno-naturalistic exploration of the relationships between people, places and times” (Dazed Magazine) and “a deft use of verdant strings, undulating synths, and vocals, blended with ambient droning and binaural beats” Vehlinggo. Following on from collaborative records with international artists marine eyes, Shelf Nunny and anthène released in 2022 on Past Inside the Present (Ohio), Hush Hush Records (Seattle) and Polar Seas Recordings (Toronto), comes her fifth solo album, abundance (out 2 February on legendary ambient cassette label, Constellation Tatsu, Oakland). abundance is a journey through ambient music that teeters on the edge of danceability, inviting listeners to connect themselves to the abundance that surrounds them. Ethereal vocals, lush strings and analogue synths, alongside singing bowls, chimes and other sound healing instruments. Drawing on songs from the new album alongside her previous four solo releases, the IKSRE live show is a transformative experience, invoking moments of sublime beauty, meditation and improvisation. Joining her for the tour dates will be fellow Naarm resident, Willebrant - the ambient field drone project of Naarm/Melbourne bassist and producer Karl Willebrant. In 2020 Willebrant entered the home studio and delved into his love of ambient, emerging with a myriad of releases to critical acclaim, featuring collaborations with artists from Europe, The United States and Australia. Experience a captivating and immersive set of continuous soundscapes and textures as Willebrant traverses landscapes of the mind's eye. Also on the line up, Eora locals Mike Nigro and Aura Hunting Tickets $15 on the door, no presales (and noone turned away due to lack of funds)

Lovely venue with a warm friendly vibe, IKSRE and Willebrandt both performed wonderful sets. It was the first time seeing IKSRE and she didnt disappoint. Beautiful melodies and vocals with haunting viola parts woven throughout. Willebrandt was also astounding....using looping (as did IKSRE) to create beds of sounds over ambient meditative soundscapes. A great night all around. The cheese platter was well worth the $28!! Filling and tasty. Well done!

IKSRE Biography

IKSRE (I Keep Seeing Rainbows Everywhere) is the solo moniker of Naarm/Melbourne-based multi instrumentalist, vocalist, producer and sound alchemist (dip. Sound Healing Academy, Cornwall), Phoebe Dubar. She combines ethereal vocals with lush strings, bass-forward synths and sound healing instruments with field recordings, to create a unique, ambient, neo-classical pop sound. She has released five albums to date: independently, with Constellation Tatsu (Oakland), Hush Hush Records (Seattle) and Lo Recordings (London), achieving widespread acclaim from blogs, Spotify official playlists and radio (BBC Radio 6, KEXP, RTE, triple j, double j, RRR, PBS-FM). She has also released collaborative albums with international artists on Ambientologist (NL), Past Inside the Present (USA) and Stereoscenic (USA). She has performed at Melbourne Music Week, Peninsula Hot Springs and dozens of yoga studios across her home state.

Phoebe also facilitates group sound baths using a combination of Himalayan and Alchemy crystal singing bowls, gongs, hand pan, drum, chimes, Monochord and voice, including overtone singing. She also facilitates training workshops locally and abroad, and runs a private practice from her home on Boonwurrung Country. She featured in a dedicated sound healing segment on The House of Wellness (Channel 7) and as a guide for Endota Retreat. Most recently, Phoebe has produced an 8 part Podcast, “What is Sound?”, featuring interviews with industry experts across the topics of sound healing, music performance, recording and the sounds of the natural world.

———————————————————————————————————————

“Her sound palette lies at the delicate intersection of the natural world in fissure with atmospheric electronics and instruments. Much like Philip Glass or Ryuichi Sakamoto, Dubar’s way with a subtle shift into an irregular rhythm, a harmonic modulation or change in articulation, tricks the listener into a trance. IKSRE is seriously slept on - it's time to wake up.” (The Wire Magazine)

“Somewhere between sound healing and environmental music, Nurture is a techno-naturalistic exploration of the relationships between people, places and times”
(Dazed Magazine)

“Her signature recipe examines the dynamics of the human mind, soul and body through the deft use of verdant strings, undulating synths, and vocals, blended with ambient droning and binaural beats. In some instances it evokes the transcendence of a sound bath and in others a delightful comedown from a long and fun night out.” (Vehlinggo)

“...a blissfully soothing entry into the world of healing by sound, flawlessly arranged and recorded.” (Igloo Mag)

"Through immersive, calming soundscapes, she transmits prismatic visions into the world, creating welcoming spaces for dreaming... It’s all a beautiful place to get lost." (Foxy Digitalis)
