About this concert

Madeleine & Salomon Biography
A minimalist and delicate duo. Madeleine sings. Salomon sits at the piano. Madeleine & Salomon, a duo with a natural elegance, “less is more” their essence.
Following their first opus’ A Woman's Journey’ (2016) – a homage to militant American songstresses from Nina Simone to Janis Joplin – ‘Eastern Spring’ sees them tackle the shimmering repertoire of ‘60s/’70s Mediterranean folk-pop. Clotilde (vocals & flute) and Alexandre (piano) take us to Beirut, Istanbul, Rabat, Tel Aviv and Cairo, performing songs that reflect these artists’ emancipated societies through that mix of folk and psychedelic rock so popular in Western music at the time.
Torn between two worlds, these songs find a natural home with Madeleine & Salomon: one voice, one piano, overlaid with daring effects and driven by a fascinating intensity.
“An inner journey. In the depth of a quintessential woman’s voice, deep and diaphanous, and on the crest of a piano gifting it daydream’s sceneries. Dark suns, fragile smiles, a breath of life in the blue hour. Unheralded, unheard and simply necessary.” Alex Dutilh – Open Jazz / France Musique.
