Special Consensus

The Special Consensus is a four-person acoustic band based in Chicago, Illinois USA. Commonly called "Special C" by friends and fans, the band repertoire includes a somewhat contemporary sound that includes traditional bluegrass standards, songs from other musical genres with bluegrass arrangements and compositions by band members. The band tours full time nationally and internationally, playing festivals and concerts, conducting workshops and presenting the Traditional American Music (TAM) program they created to introduce students of all ages to bluegrass music.
Special Consensus has released 21 band recordings. The last seven recordings were released on the Nashville-based Compass Records label and received eight awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and two Grammy nominations.
