“Salute to the Jazz Singing Piano Players”
In this one-off concert The TJ Johnson Trio will be performing a selection of tunes by his favourite Jazz, Blues, and Rhythm & Blues Singing Piano players such as Ray Charles, Fats Waller, Nat King Cole, Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino.
TJ will take you on a trail from the Smokey Jazz dives of New Orleans through the foot tapping Honky Tonks of Texas to the Gin-soaked Speakeasies of New York.
TJ Johnson is widely considered to be one of the UK’s most charismatic highly revered Jazz and Blues singers and seems to find a magic way to weave his own nuance into the story of each song as if they had all been written especially for him.
A hot piano player and respected bandleader, TJ Sprang on to the Jazz scene in the late 80’s as a Jazz singer with Max Collie at the age of 17 and since forming his own band in 1990 has performed extensively for over thirty years now at many Theatres, Festivals and Jazz clubs both in the UK and overseas.
