Bo Phillips Band Biography
Hailing from Stillwater, Oklahoma, Bo Phillips Band brings an eclectic variety of musical influences with them to the stage. From the first note until the last encore, you can be sure that you will leave with a smile.
Their debut album, “Dirt Road”, featured all original music, and three top 40 songs. You will hear soulful ballads, gritty lead rides, toe-tapping favorites, and a couple of funny moments.
Their sophomore album, “Fishin’ with Grandpa” shows that they are far more than just a one-hit wonder. Featuring three top 40 songs, two top 10 songs, and their first number 1 song on the charts, “Red Dirt Girl”, this album showed that they were here to stay.
Their third album, “Nashville Checklist” took it to an entirely new level; featuring anthem songs like “Her Favorite Song”, rocking tunes like “Don’t Flatter Yourself”, unapologetic songs like the title track, “Nashville Checklist, and crowd-influenced hidden track, “Greatest Game”.
Their soul-wrenching single, “21 Guns” will make you even more proud to be an American. That, and many more new tunes, will be on their new album, which is currently in the works.
Born in Houston, Texas, Bo and his two brothers (Stephan Phillips and Stoney LaRue) were raised by their grandparents in southeastern Oklahoma. Upon graduation, Bo moved to Stillwater and received his degree in agricultural education from Oklahoma State University. He then began his career as a high school agriculture teacher. After teaching for six years, he decided it was time to pursue his lifelong dream… music.
He got his first guitar when he was nine years old. It came with a chord book that showed three chords. “The rest, I learned from watching Austin City Limits.” He played all his life, but never took it seriously until he moved to Stillwater and was immersed in the culture. And as with all his shows, “You’ll pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge.”
