About this concert
Laura Lizcano presents music from her latest album, Daughter of the Sea. Written largely during quarantine, Daughter of the Sea is an internal look into Lizcano's life, addressing a wide range of topics from breaking generational traumas and immigrant identity, to sexual desire and learning radical self-love. Featuring tracks sung in both English and Spanish, the album is a reflection of her experiences with and feelings of belonging to something bigger than the boxed identities imposed by culture and society. *Please note that this performance will be presented at the Tank's in-person performance space at 312 W 36th St. All attendees and artists will be required to have a covid vaccination before being admitted to the space. Patrons will also be required to wear masks, when not eating or drinking.

Laura Lizcano Biography

Laura Lizcano is a Colombian-born singer-songwriter based in NewYork. Influenced by artists like Norah Jones, Natalia Lafourcade andCaroline Shaw, Lizcano combines her formal training as a jazz vocalist
with her love of folk, pop and contemporary classical music. This combination of styles is evident within her own lyrically-driven compositions.

Lizcano has performed at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola in New York City as the featured vocalist for the Temple University Big Band. She has opened for Gaby Moreno and Sammy Miller and the Congregation at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. Most recently, she has been featured in the virtual Wawa Welcome America Festival (2020) and Philadelphia's iconic Philly Folk Fest (2020 and 2021). Laura regularly collaborates with Almanac Dance Circus Theatre and has written and performed her original music for two
of the company's original shows: Happy Hour (Cannonball Festival 2021, Miniball 2022) and Armor (2021), which was commissioned by and presented at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Lizcano's self-released debut EP, Chance on Me (2018), was followed by her first full-length studio album, Heart (2020), now available on all streaming platforms. Her forthcoming album Daughter of the Sea is slated for release in October of 2022.
