Gurriers Biography

Described by the Irish Times as “raw as a butcher's cut, and just as fresh” Gurriers raging combination of punk, noise, alt-rock and shoegaze plus Dan Hoff’s intense socio-political lyrics have fast established them as one of the most furiously exciting bands out of Ireland the last few years.

Intensely heavy psych-punk grooves erupt from new single ‘Des Goblin’ which follows recent single ‘Nausea’ dubbed by DIY magazine ‘another slice of unforgiving punk’ whilst Consequence added ‘Irish punks Gurriers have once again turned the volume dial to 11 and unveiled another scorcher’. ‘Nausea’ was the last of three releases in 2023 including their Feb debut “Approachable” praised by The Line Of Best Fit as "a post-punk masterwork,” whilst May’s follow up “Sign Of The Times” was “just as enraged, frenetic and full-blooded as their debut” said Hot Press.

Thing’s have intensified since with a stack of UK and Netherlands club shows and a Summer of festivals across Europe with the band growing into a mesmering tour de force on stage. Ahead of their packed shows in May at The Great Escape NME stated “You know something special is afoot when an act continues to sell out shows off the back of only two singles”

As Louder Than War said of their recent set at Haldern Pop Germany “One last show of sheer elemental, Argonaut-like force to mention: Gurriers in the Spiegelzelt on Friday. It was no wonder the audience moshed as if it had succumbed to a mass attack of the tarantellas. For those who need more definite reference, there is something of Gilla Band’s intensity but they have an impish, ‘Jesus Built My Hotrod’ anger to them that is irresistible. Be warned.”
