"The Slambovian Circus of Dreams - Unplugged" features three of the band's founders in a unique evening of music. Where exactly is Slambovia? Maybe it’s an island that lived in David Bowie’s head. Maybe it’s an archipelago floating in Leonard Cohen’s retired pen. Wherever it is, Caffè Lena invites you to take a peek behind the Slambovian curtain and experience the creative engine behind the band in this rare and intimate performance by the founding members.
Voted “Best Band of 2022” in their home state of New York by Chronogram Magazine, Charismatic frontman, Joziah presides center-ring with vocals that are as soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic, joined onstage by founding bandmates Tink (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the guitar-slinging skills of Sharkey McEwen. A rootsy rockin' psychedelica, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams have been expanding the borders of the Americana genre with fantastic stories and performances since the late 90’s in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
Voted "Best Band of 2022" in their home state of New York by Chronogram Magazine, the Slambovians' connection with audiences taps into a greater human-ness. Charismatic frontman, Joziah Longo presides center-ring with vocals "Soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic", joined onstage by founding bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the guitar-slinging skills of Sharkey McEwen, creating a show that constantly evolves "with a little help from their friends". Touring bandmates also include RJ McCarty (bass, keys, sax), Bob Torsello (bass), and Matthew Abourezk (drums).
Exploring the depths of Americana one trippy tune at a time, elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix. (Waterboys co-founder Anthony Thistlethwaite is featured on A Very Unusual Head). Woodstock-tinged psychedelia, a hint of southern rock and solid songwriting elevates this version of Americana to new heights.
