The Machine (Official) Biography

Doused in space, soaked in riffs. THE MACHINE is the power trio of guitarist/vocalist David Eering, bassist Chris Both and drummer Klaas Dijkstra. Since forming in the late aughts, the genre-bending Dutch band has left its mark on the international underground via 7 full-lengths, 1 split album and numerous shows throughout Europe. Rooted in the raw energy of stoner rock, they have been redefining their craft by balancing the band’s affection for loud riffs with an adventurous spirit that has seen them venture into the realms of heavy psych, ‘90s alt-rock, prog, doom, space and beyond.

What truly sets THE MACHINE apart is their refusal to stand still, taking listeners on a journey into new territories with every new album. Their freeform vibe of the past (2009’s sought after cult classic Solar Corona and 2010’s Drie) evolved into a more focused and melodic style of song writing, with 2023’s Wave Cannon as the most recent example. THE MACHINE live shows are a pilgrimage for those seeking to be bathed in volume, delivered with the right amount of dynamics to timely soothe your ears and mind. The live renditions of their repertoire are razor-sharp, delivered with an addictive swagger that has you dancing in no time.

THE MACHINE once spearheaded the 2nd wave of the European heavy psych scene while in their early 20s, but they subsequently chose a quirky and more low-key path. Now, in 2024, THE MACHINE is a band that has matured and is stronger and more potent than ever before. In recent years the lineup was revamped, but with Eering still at the helm as the driving force behind the band, the trio’s core identity has not changed. The current abiding lineup is working on its first collective output, scheduled for a 2025 release.
