Acclaimed rapper Madchild, a recipient of the prestigious Juno Award, has announced his triumphant return to Australia and New Zealand for early 2024. The Canadian emcee will embark on his biggest tour of the nation’s capitals yet. Madchild is no stranger to Australian and New Zealand fans, as he has played to packed sold out tours as both a solo artist and with hip-hop trio Swollen Members, and he shot his iconic music video for "The Jackal", which has now surpassed 20 million views, in Melbourne.
Madchild hails from the golden era of hip-hop when he grew up working at Extra Large in Haight-Ashbury, a clothing store owned by the Beastie Boys. From there he sharpened his pen and was inducted into the Rock Steady Crew alongside Dilated Peoples. It all attests to his powerful collaborations with industry heavyweights Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli, Nelly Furtardo and video director/comic book legend Todd McFarlane.
Madchild's trajectory in the hip-hop landscape over the past few years has been nothing short of remarkable. He joined forces with Tom MacDonald to birth the collaborative album "Killing The Neighbours," birthing chart-toppers "Bad News" and "Sober," both commanding a spot on YouTube's trending page. Following this triumph, Madchild proceeded to captivate audiences with "Mobsters and Monsters," a collaborative masterpiece with the burgeoning San Diego emcee Obnoxious. The album bore witness to Madchild's mastery of penmanship, paying homage to authentic hip-hop lyricism and accompanied by head-bobbing beats.
Earlier this year, Madchild collaborated with renowned multi-platinum producer and songwriter Michael Bradford on the track "Ya Don't Stop", which was selected by ESPN as a song of the month. The track was heard as a musical backdrop during the NBA Finals to millions of viewers.
Madchild will be taking Australian artist ‘Kogz’ along for the entire tour after a stellar past few years on the local circuit proving himself one of the hottest prospects on stage and in the Australian music industry. Kogz is sure to expand his rapidly growing fanbase alongside a legend of the game and debuting live in New Zealand with another force in the Australian hip-hop scene Fortay at Large also excitedly joining the New Zealand dates for his first time also.

He wasn’t there but other acts were good even local guys. Only got 3 stars because I went for Madchild and Rittz but bumped up to 4 because Rittz was fire

Since the release of his debut solo album "Dope Sick", Madchild has refused to rest. After many years of success with Swollen Members, Madchild branched out creatively to become a solo artist and was rewarded with the highest chart position of his career as "Dope Sick" debuted at #3 on the Canadian Billboard Top 200 and #7 on the US Heatseekers chart. Madchild wasted no time taking to the road on a sold-out Canadian tour alongside Tech N9ne, which he immediately followed-up with a 40-date headlining tour across the country performing to packed venues. Madchild has relentlessly toured for the past few years earning fans in every city on tours with La Coka Nostra, Tech N9NE, Redman, and others. Madchild capped off an amazing year with a Juno Award nomination for "Dope Sick" in the category of "Rap Recording of the Year", as well as nominations for a Sirius XFM and a Canadian Independent Music awards.
Swollen Members have been an underground anomaly for more than a decade with worldwide success and accolades. The group are currently riding a wave of success, winning 4 Junos Awards and adding a nomination for a 5th award in 2012 for their "Dagger Mouth" album. In addition to their Juno awards, Swollen Members have also nabbed seven Much Music video awards and four Western Canadian Music awards. Bunkering down in his home studio secluded from the outside world, Madchild has enjoyed a creative rebirth by crafting some of the best verses of his entire career. In addition to his creative rebirth, Madchild is now giving back to his community as he has started speaking at local high schools in British Columbia and to youth groups about perils of gang violence and drug addiction in Canada, which has helped inspire youth to make positive lifestyle choices.
