Infestus Biography

INFESTUS originated in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER) in 2003. Following the release of a demo, the debut album, and a split CD, the band faced a gradual disintegration. Guitarist Harbarth left in 2006, prompting Andras to take over the whole instrumentation, while Dagon focused on vocals. In 2008, they crafted the concept album "Chroniken des Ablebens“, released by Debemur Morti Productions (DMP).
After intonating the moment of dying and expanding these fleeting seconds to the length of an album, Andras was driven by the idea of thematising his innermost darkness to finally gain catharsis through the creation of the critically acclaimed album "Ex|Ist". With this, INFESTUS conceptionally developed into a personal crusade between Andras and his life, which led Dagon to leave in 2010. Diminished to a solo project, “Ex|Ist” was born into this world through DMP in 2011, with Andras taking on not only the entire instrumentation but also handling the vocals for the album.
Three years later (2014), the highly-praised concept album “The Reflecting Void” was released (DMP), dealing with the sensation of inner emptiness as a deceptive reflection concealing repressed truths. During this period, Andras decided to bring INFESTUS to the stage by assembling a live lineup, enabling him to perform as vocalist onstage. In addition to selected gigs, INFESTUS graced festivals such as Hellfest, Metalcamp, Dark Easter Metal Meeting, and others.
In October 2018, Andras released “Thrypsis” (DMP). Admired by critics, this album introduces a pitch-black concept encapsulating what he defines as mental thrypsis: a catastrophic event as cause for continiuous destabilization and degradation of the soul.
With his "high-quality art, which has been among the best since 2011 in more experimental black metal“ (as quoted in Legacy #117, 2018), Andras is spearheading another conceptual breakthrough with his upcoming album in 2024 after a 5-year hiatus, catapulting INFESTUS back into the consciousness of music enthusiasts.
