Bjørnson Biography

Stuttgart-based DJ and producer Bjørnson has been fostering his talent for raw and
hypnotic techno for over a decade and is now fast becoming one of the stand-out names
among a fresh surge of underground stars. With a growing discography of quality cuts to his
name, as well as countless performances alongside electronic music’s elite, Bjørnson’s
elevation to global recognition is imminent and well deserved.
Cutting his teeth drumming from as early as six years old, Bjørnson’s progression to
electronic music was inevitable and subsequently led to a deep passion for techno and its
uncompromising beats. Gravitating to the percussive dominance of its ‘big room’ sound,
Bjørnson’s love for the underground genre developed through his teens, making a definite
dwelling in his life after studying at Sinee Studios Cologne. As with any great artist, early
influences came from a range of electronic music’s vast sub-genres, including Stephan
Bodzin, Thomas Schumacher, Richie Hawtin, Ida Engberg and Marc Romboy, as well as
house artists like Oliver Koletzki. By 2014, Bjørnson had well and truly honed in on his
sound palette, presenting richly percussive-led mixes that championed Drumcode’s roster of
staples – Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Bart Skills, ANNA, Victor Ruiz and Wehbba.
Tapped by the late Canape, which sadly closed its doors during the pandemic in 2020,
Bjørnson’s dance-inducing track selections and savvy mixing capabilities saw him nurture
an 8 year-long residency at the club, and a host of ensuing followers. During this time, he
served as an opening act for some of electronic music’s finest artists, the likes of Sam
Paganini, Marika Rossa, AKA AKA, Brian Sanhaji, Super Flu & Lore, DJ Emerson and Felix
Kröcher. Alongside his club career, Bjørnson has made numerous appearances on the
festival circuit, debuting at the late Plus-Minus-Festival in 2011. Since then he has graced
the mainstages of large-scale events across his native Germany, sharing the decks with
top-tier names such as DJ Rush, Anthony Rother, Tiefschwarz, Format B, Dominik Eulberg
and Felix Kröcher.
With a severe lack of touring and events put on hold during the global-affecting pandemic,
Bjørnson turned to his monthly podcast to connect to his fanbase. Launched in October of
2021 and true to his tastemaker status, the bjoernsonmusic podcast hosts a contemporary
selection of his favourite new techno releases, intertwined with his own anticipated records.
Available across Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Apple Podcasts and hearthis.at, bjoernsonmusic
has already grossed to over 5,000 listeners per month; testament to both his tenacious work
ethic and innate ear for high-calibre records.
Journeying into the world of production, Bjørnson celebrated his debut release with “Reflect”
in September of 2021 via the German imprint Sunora Recordings. A hypnotic cut boasting
an expressive synth top-line, “Reflect” served as an emphatic inaugural release that
prompted the label to reinvest in his talents, and subsequently he returned two months later
to drop his debut EP, “The Hidden Me”. Opening the door to a wave of new records and
label affiliations, Bjørnson joined Berlin’s EUN Records the very same month for the release
of “Continuous”. Delivering on crisp percussion and heady, distorted synth-work, the upand-
comer’s fresh discography was already reflecting a definitive sonic aesthetic, conducive
to dark, gritty warehouse spaces.
Continuing his succession of releases, November 2021 also saw the delivery of “Living In
Shadows” for the peak-time techno house The Acid Mind Recordings. Dipping his toe into
heavier techno waters, Bjørnson opted for a harder and more feral strain of the genre,
which landed him a spot on Natura Viva Music’s January-released VA compilation with “The
Darkside of Acid”. Maintaining this rich vein of form, his follow up single “Awareness” was
snapped up by Heimatliebe Records for their “Black Forest Vol.1” compilation in March of
this year, with another single release, “Chronos”, on Moonrocks Schallplatten following
shortly after. Untamed in nature and driven by the powerful force of masterful percussion
and epic breaks, Bjørnson’s back-catalogue serves as a haven for both green techno heads
and aficiandos alike. In addition to his single “Excess” on Minicomp’s VA, the German native
looks ahead to another crest in his career, with a highly-anticipated debut for Kaiserdisco’s
KD Raw with “Master Cuts”. After release in August 2022, the record has already featured
on Drumcode Radio as well as entering the Beatport Charts.
The release also got huge support from Richie Hawtin, Juliet Fox, Alex Stein, Monika Kruse,
Marco Faraone, Klaudia Gawlas and many more.
In February Bjørnson will kick off the new year with a release on Timo’s imprint Hypnostate!
Another milestone in his musical journey.
