MOJNA Biography

With elements of improvisation and voicing based on counterpoint techniques, MOJNA has developed an original and unique sound. This Swedish/Norwegian trio, formerly known as Eriksson/Myhr/Malmström, performs newly composed, inventive Nordic folk on guitar, Hardanger fiddle, and clarinet/bass clarinet.

In 2022 they released their debut album "För Sola Skin' På Tak” which received widespread critical acclaim and earned them the title of "Instrumental Band of the Year" by Lira Music Magazine. The album was also nominated for awards at the Swedish “Manifestgalan” and the Folk & World Music Gala 2023.

Thomas Eriksson (composer / guitar)
Helga Myhr (Hardanger fiddle)
Anna Malmström (clarinet / bass clarinet)

“Eriksson/Myhr/Malmström’s (MOJNA) first but hardly last album, För sola skin' på tak, is chosen as the album of the year in this category, where guitarist Thomas Eriksson's exquisite compositions are formed in close, listening interaction with Helga Myhr on Hardanger fiddle and Anna Malmström on bass clarinet. A record that we returned to throughout the year. Continuously evocative music to both rest to and be revived by.”
