About this concert
Freight & Salvage celebrates incredible bluegrass talent with the Berkeley Bluegrass Festival, April 26-28, 2024. With concerts programmed by Grammy-award winner Laurie Lewis and the Freight’s Artistic Director Peter Williams, plus instructional workshops curated by Ms. Lewis, Berkeley Bluegrass Festival brings together leaders of the genre, up-and-coming artists, and hardcore fans. Join us for three days of concerts, jams, workshops (free for ticket holders!) and good old-fashioned merriment to kick off the summer music festival season.

Broken Compass Bluegrass Biography
Broken Compass Bluegrass is an acoustic quartet that has rapidly gained acclaim for its razor-sharp arrangements, organic interplay and well-developed songwriting. The band performs a mix of jamgrass, bluegrass, country, and Grateful Dead material, among numerous original material.
Based in northern California, Broken Compass Bluegrass includes Kyle Ledson, Django Ruckrich, Mei Lin Heirendt, and Sam Jacobs. Though still youngsters, they are no strangers to the music industry. They are seasoned performers, multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, and singers and have established themselves as some of California’s most prominent up-and-coming youth. Now coming together as a band, they are a fresh force in the music scene today.
