Juli eroberten mit ihrer 2004 veröffentlichten Debüt-Single «Perfekte Welle» die deutschen Singlecharts und konnten ein wenig später ihre erste goldene Schallplatte in Empfang nehmen. Ein beachtlicher Einstiegserfolg, an den die Formation mit mehr als 1,5 Millionen verkauften Einheiten ihrer mit Gold und Platin ausgezeichneten Alben anknüpfte — und momentan fast eine Million monatliche Spotify-Hörer:innen begeistert. Obwohl mittlerweile fast zwei Jahrzehnte seit der Veröffentlichung ihrer ersten Single vergangen sind, lassen sich Juli-Songs immer noch sofort an den ersten gespielten Noten erkennen: Geblieben ist die euphorische Bittersweetness, die vertraute Nostalgie-Verliebtheit und die unerschöpfliche Energie, mit der Sängerin Eva Briegel, die Gitarristen Simon Triebel und Jonas Pfetzing, Bassist Andreas Herde sowie Drummer Marcel Römer ihr Publikum mitreissen.
2023 kam das bereits fünfte Album der Band raus und erntete viel Liebe, tolle Reviews und Fläche im Feuilleton des Landes. 9 Jahre war es her, dass es ein Album der Band gab und sie auf Tournee war. Man konnte nicht wirklich abschätzen, was zu erwarten gewesen wäre, aber die Reaktion der Fans war euphorisch und das «Juli-Gefühl» sollte das Land erneut ereilen.
Für 2024 hat sich die Band viel vorgenommen: Eva Briegel wird in der kommenden Staffel von «Sing meinen Song» auf dem Sofa sitzen, das Album «Der Sommer ist vorbei» wird als Deluxe Edition noch einmal herausgebracht und die Band wird auf grosse «20 Jahre Es ist Juli»-Tournee gehen.

Juli is a German rock/pop band consisting of singer Eva Briegel, guitarists Jonas Pfetzing and Simon Triebel, bassist Andreas “Dedi” Herde and drummer Marcel Römer. The band’s name is German for “July”. They come from Gießen, Hessen.
When founded in the 1990s as Sunnyglade, they sang songs in the English language. Since 2000, they play with their current cast. After changing their name and beginning to sing German songs in 2002, they released their first single, Perfekte Welle, on June 28, 2004. It reached #2 of the German Top 100 in November, and stayed in the charts for 6 months. Their first album, Es ist Juli, was released in August 2004 and stayed in the german charts until July 2006, peaking at #2.
Along with Wir sind Helden and Silbermond they were one of the most successful German pop bands in summer 2004 which established German lyrics again in the German music scene.
In late December, 2004, Perfekte Welle, (which, translated to English language, stands for “Perfect Wave”), was banned from radio and TV stations after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The media were criticized for that measure because the song has no relation to catastrophies but is a metaphorical description of a person taking the chance he/she has waited for. The stations expressed particular discomfort with the lines in the bridge (Now it slowly comes to you, the water hits you in the face) and chorus (This is the perfect wave, this is the perfect day/Let yourself be carried by it...).
In October 2006 a new CD was released, called “Ein Neuer Tag”
