About this concert
A benefit for our friend Johnny Williams. Full lineup TBA Johnny Williams paid AAA Insurance for a premium replacement policy for 30 years, but when a devastating fire destroyed his home in 2022, AAA was not there for him. After over a year of delays, AAA is now suing Johnny to force a settlement far below the replacement value. To add insult to injury, AAA also unceremoniously kicked him off the temporary housing rider he is entitled to. Johnny is now living in a partially heated old schoolhouse 220 miles from his hometown. For 30 years Johnny has opened his home to hundreds of musical acts and thousands of friends, old and new, without ever taking a dime of the money collected for the performing artists. In fact just the opposite – Johnny went to great lengths at his own expense to turn the Speakeasy, a unique rathskeller-type structure under his home that has hosted music since the 1920’s, into one of the best places to see live music anywhere. Please help support this historic venue and a man who has spent his life giving to others. Visit savethespeakeasy.com for more details.

Michelle Held Biography

Renowned folk icon Tom Paxton said, “Two years ago, I told Michelle that I thought she had the gift. I am changing ‘thought’ to ‘know.’” Michelle Held has established herself as a cornerstone of the Michigan music scene with her emotionally resonant live performance and lyrical talent, earning her three consecutive Honorable Mentions in the prestigious Telluride Troubadour Contest. In November of 2023, Held made her long-awaited recording debut with the release of “The World Moves On,” a pandemic-inspired reflection on life’s fragile yet resilient nature, alongside a beautiful hand-drawn animated video. “This song presents a few opportunities for Michelle to share her memorably one-of-a-kind warble, a vocal texture that helps secure a spot in the listener’s memory and sets her apart from other singer-songwriters in and beyond the folk genre,” writes Geoff Wilbur’s Music Blog. Held is a gentle, thoughtful presence that offers listeners a warm space to appreciate beautiful vocals and genuine heartfelt narratives.
