About this concert
Telefon: +36 1 216 7894 "...her writing is phenomenally brilliant. She is a standout talent. Michaud- Gagnon’s music flows masterfully with poise and grace. She commands the piano with elegance, subtlety, and a refined quiet knowing." (Kerilie McDowall, All About Jazz) “Her latest release showcases the full extent of her rare talent. Gentiane MG confirms her stature as a major artist. There is nothing glib, nothing faked, simply confident creativity." (Keith Black, Winnipeg Free Press, 2022). MG’s music reflects her background as a jazz pianist as well as her early training in Conservatory as a classical pianist, incorporating the aesthetics of impressionism with the improvisational approach and rhythmic sensibility of contemporary jazz. Her compositions come together in a deeply personal universe shaped with contrasting colours, memorable melodies and intricate tensions that bring expressivity, vivacity, dream and mystery to a compelling acoustic landscape. Gentiane MG’s music has earned her numerous accolades, including the Radio- Canada Révélation Jazz Award in 2018, the OPUS Award for Discovery of the Year in 2020 and the François-Marcaurelle de la GMMQ Award. Walls Made of Glass was nominated for Jazz Album of the Year at the Gala ADISQ in Quebec, Canada in 2023.
