Wolf Twin Biography
Wolf Twin is the latest project from Heather Gillis, a Nashville-based guitarist and singer/songwriter whose roots cover Southeast Blues, traditional American music, and the jam band community. Gillis uses Wolf Twin as a canvas to put her personal spin on these genres, fusing the bluesy energy of her previous work with elements of rock, indie, and pop and creating a musical style that is fresh and innovative, yet recognizable to new listeners. With glossy vocal deliveries and hooky guitar riffs, Wolf Twin delivers genre-blending pop songs that are psychedelic and atmospheric in some moments, and crisp and driving in others.
Prior to her arrival in Nashville, the Brooksville, Florida native established herself as an up-and-coming artist in the Tallahassee and Atlanta music scenes through her previous projects, most notably Butch Trucks and the Freight Train Band and The Heather Gillis Band. A devout member of the jam band community, her guitar playing earned her a reputation as a talented instrumentalist and led to collaborations with legends of the jam scene such as Col Bruce Hampton.
While Gillis' recordings distill her sound into more contained tracks, Wolf Twin takes live performances as an opportunity to explore the music further, freely improvising and expanding on the songs. This spontaneity is typical of the founder’s creative approach, and it encapsulates the artist’s drive to create songs that stand on their own while still leaving room to explore.
Wolf Twin is currently playing shows in the Nashville area and is set to release their debut EP in summer 2022.
