Hard to believe but I think this legendary group is very underrated. The Gang has The Best harmony going and some of the very best voices in Southern Gospel. I don't think there is a better alto than Shay Smith and a better high soprano than Melissa Kemper. And the rest of the group adds so much with great harmony.
First time I've been to Stones River Baptist Church and it's a very nice venue. The pastor was very friendly and the crowd was very happy and enthusiastic, which is always good.
The Gang puts on a great singing. Josh is a great singer but also a great MC and the entertaining, talking, and singing is just the right mixture. And they have some great old and new songs.
I very highly recommend going to see The Gang. This is a top flight group who doesn't get near the recognition they deserve. I loved going to this singing.

Chuck Wagon Gang are the best of the best in Gospel Music!!!
Canton, GA@New Hope Baptist Church
I couldn't believe my eyes when I rediscovered that The Chuck Wagon Gang was still touring and creating new music. Filled with excitement, I immediately messaged them to express my joy and gratitude for keeping their music alive. To my surprise, they replied with warmth, thanking me for my support and inviting me to their next performance. It was incredible luck that the very next town on their tour was just a stone's throw away from my home. The anticipation of seeing them perform in such an intimate setting made me even more excited about the upcoming event.
Attending The Gang's performance at the White Plains Baptist Church in Jefferson, GA, was a delightful experience for both me and my two-year-old. The group's timeless charm and harmonies embraced the audience with a sense of warmth and joy, creating a heartfelt celebration of Southern gospel music.
Opening the show with selections from their latest album, 'Come, Go with Me,' The Chuck Wagon Gang showcased their timeless charm with their signature opening chord and like milk and honey, harmonies, blending seamlessly. It was as if they had stepped out of a musical time capsule, keeping the spirit of their legendary group alive with every note they sang. The title song, 'Come, Go with Me,' etched its way into our hearts, destined to be a classic in their repertoire for years to come.
The soulful soprano voice of Melissa Kemper, captivated and lifted and lightened our hearts. She effortlessly graced the notes as she sang 'Heavenly Gain,' reminding us of the hope that lies beyond this world.
With a resonant and expressive alto voice, Shaye Smith, the true heir to the Gang, legacy and granddaughter of the original alto, Anna Carter Gordon Davis, blessed us with her remarkable vocal prowess on 'I Will Not Cry Today,' bringing a performance with memorable depth. My son hasn’t stopped singing it since we left the performance.
Lead vocalist Josh Garner, an enigmatic presence on stage, possessed a voice of pure gold. His quick wit and humor added a delightful dimension to the group. A remarkable tenor, complementing and effortlessly filling out the soundscape.
And while they didn’t set any fields on fire, bass singer and guitarist Darrell Morris, set his strings ablaze with every pluck and stroke and strum. His talents were a pure delight, adding depth to the harmonies.
After a captivating series of new songs, The Chuck Wagon Gang treated us to a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recreating a classic radio show from their early days. Gathering around the old call letters of a WABP Radio microphone, they sang beloved classics like 'I'll Fly Away' and my sons personal favorite 'Church in the Wildwood.' The addition of fun and lively recreations of classic jingles and commercials injected a sense of joy and nostalgia.
The group's willingness to take requests from the audience further showcased their extraordinary talent and versatility. They effortlessly belted out classics like 'Standing on the Promises' and 'Looking for a City.' A personal favorite, 'Tattlers Wagon,' and another fan's request, 'Grandma's Feather Bed,' were met with surprise, proving their ability to tackle any song with ease, regardless of the years that have passed.
And then, they graced us with what might be new personal favorites, 'The Record Book' and 'Two Gardens,' leaving us in awe of their musical prowess.
As the concert drew to a close, I found myself wishing I had taken notes to capture the enjoyment of the night I shared with my son.
The down-to-earth and interactive nature of The Chuck Wagon Gang added a special charm. Throughout the evening, they engaged warmly with the audience, creating an atmosphere that felt like an intimate gathering of friends. Their genuine connection and approachability elevated the concert experience, leaving a lasting impression of not just talented musicians, but also genuine and caring individuals who truly cherish their fans.
The Chuck Wagon Gang's unwavering dedication to preserving the legacy of southern gospel music is beyond commendable, and I eagerly look forward to witnessing their talents again, hopefully many times. Their timeless harmonies and heartfelt performances truly keep the essence of southern gospel alive, a treasure we hold close to our hearts.

We got to hear 17 classic Chuck Wagon Gang (CWG) songs after eating great BBG at Tony Gore's. If you can get to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for one of the CWG reunion weekend concerts you should go. You will certainly get your money's worth at the concert plus there is so much to do in the area when they are not singing. That is why we come every year from Pasadena, MD to attend this concert. It is even better now that it is being held in May instead of March.

We got to hear 26 classic Chuck Wagon Gang (CWG) songs sung by current and past CWG members before intermission and 19 songs after intermission. Both CWG and the Inspirations put on an enjoyable performance. Good to see the CWG carry on a longstanding tradition. The Inspirations also lived up to their name....a very inspired, energetic show which was highlighted by spotlighting their individual talents.
