John McDermott Biography
John McDermott is a Scottish-Canadian tenor, releasing more than 40 albums over a 23+ year career. His first album, Danny Boy, went double platinum and since then, John has toured extensively throughout Canada and the US, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
John has worked and continues to collaborate with some of the most talented musicians in the country. Special performances have included singing the national anthem for the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs, performing at the Democratic National Convention, and the D-Day Ceremonies in France. His television specials have aired on CBC and PBS.
Known for his many charitable contributions and especially his work with veterans, John formed McDermott House Canada which donated $1.2 million to transform the Palliative Care Unit in K1E Veterans Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The mission is to promote the highest quality of life for Veterans, Military, First Responders and community patients facing the final stage of a terminal illness.
