About this concert
International artists /songwriters Eric Bazilian & Tania Doko share more than artistry, song writing and live performing in common - they are forever bonded by their Scandinavian ‘second home’ - Sweden. Both ex pats who married Swedes, their cathartic, creative friendship was born in Stockholm; navigating long, dark winters and making songs together was their refuge and happy place. Although living mostly in their respective home countries today, they stay connected through music, storytelling and of course, Sweden. And since Eric wants to visit down under, they’re hitting the road together!

Tania Doko Biography

Artist. Songwriter. Half of successful duo Bachelor Girl. Youth worker. Podcaster. Artist mentor & coach. Key note speaker.

Best known for her success in Australian ARIA award winning pop duo, Bachelor Girl, Tania’s musical aspirations started when she was knee-high performing for her family on a coffee table. In her late teens, she juggled her writing and recording commitments of the early Bachelor Girl demos with musical confidante, James Roche and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology at Melbourne University. Their highly revered debut album “Waiting For the Day” enjoyed double platinum status, spawning five hit singles, dominating the airwaves in Australia, Asia and Scandinavia and won them the signing to U.S legendary A&R Clive Davis (Arista Records). 2018 marked the 20th anniversary of their much loved smash ‘Buses and Trains’ hit, alongside the APRA acknowledgement as the most played Australian composition on Australian radio in the last 20 years.

In 2000, Tania and James were invited to perform lead roles in the ‘Tim Rice Musical Spectacular’ alongside industry legends INXS, Kate Ceberano and Anthony Warlow. In 2003, Tania played a judge/mentor role on Channel 7’s ‘Popstars’ and shortly afterwards landed a role in ‘Seriously. The Pet Shop Boys Reinterpreted’ which took her to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, boasting rave reviews and endorsement from the Pet Shop Boys themselves. Tania created her vanity electro rock project SHE SAID YES, supporting Darren Hayes in 2007, and toured with the highest grossing Australian live show ‘Let’s Get Together’ in 2008 with Jon Stevens, Ian Moss and Jack Jones.

Having also been employed as a youth worker, Doko’s passion to dovetail her music with her Psychology and Criminology background has driven her to use her influence to make a positive difference to troubled youth around Australia. Using role-modelling, music, performance, and writing in workshops as a vehicle to engage, express, connect and break down defences with at risk kids and young patients (eg Reach Foundation, Whitelion, Challenge Cancer Network) has been some of the most rewarding and vital work for Tania to date.

Since moving to Sweden, in 2011, Tania has been a songwriter for hire in the thriving Stockholm music community, co-writing and featuring on hit records including The Veronicas, Tina Arena, Jessica Mauboy, Samantha Jade(with her winning X factor No.1 hit ‘What You’ve Done to Me’), Taylor Dayne, Delta Goodrem, Swedish Eurovision 2016 winner Måns Zelmerlöw, Disney feature film ‘Step Up 3’, Kpop stars Jus2, International pop sensations Sheppard with their most recent single ‘Come Back’, and ‘Eurovision Australia Decides’ 2020 with exciting newcomer, Jordan Ravi. Tania also continues her trajectory on the European electronic music scene, top-ling and featuring stellar vocal releases with successful DJ/producers like Leroy Styles,Deep Matter, Gabi Newman and wows LGBTQ audiences live from Manchester Pride to Sydney’s Mardi Gras.

In 2017, Bachelor Girl reunited and collaborated with some of Sweden’s best writers to pen new releases including their socially conscious release ‘Speak’ in 2018. The duo is being booked for Australia’s biggest festivals with massive names including ‘A Day on the Green’(Dec 2018), John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite and Icehouse. Tania capped off a huge 2018 with two sold out shows at the Sydney Opera House in ‘Hear Me Roar’, celebrating international iconic female artists, sharing the bill with some of Australia’s strongest female performers - Christine Anu, Melinda Schneider, Sarah McLeod, Prinnie Stevens and Emma Pask.

2019 kicked off with Tania’s participation in the first ever ‘Eurovision-Australia Decides’ as both songwriter and performer, and a commanding solo release with ‘Piece of Me’. She is also one of many empowering Australian women in the book and exhibition ‘AGENDA’, launched on International Women’s Day March 8. Bachelor Girl also enjoyed a busy year touring Australian summer festivals and sold out headline shows.

Tania divides her time between Sweden and Australia, with her Swedish husband Daniel and son Leo.

In between her great passions of music making for both Bachelor Girl and a solo album currently in the making, Tania is committed to coaching and mentoring up-and-coming artists, songwriters as well as consulting music industry folk to help navigate the complex, modern and exciting world of music making. During a Covid-19 era, she has been busy creating artistic content online with the likes of Kate Ceberano, Ricki-Lee Coulter and John Foreman, and has also featured with grammy nominated Eric Bazilian on records like You Tube star Greg Gould's cover of the iconic song 'Bittersweet Symphony'.
