Anavrin's Day Biography

Anavrin’s Day is a Denver based cover band that was formed in 2018 by Jonathan Cernan (JC). His goal was to collaborate with other musicians to pay tribute to the grunge/alternative music he loves from the 1990s. Wanting to be able to play some of the most difficult songs of the era, finding like-minded professional musicians was key. Spot on vocal harmonies and instrumentals is what makes an Anavrin’s Day performance stand out above the typical cover band.

The set lists are influenced by the bands such as Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and so many more great bands and are guaranteed to get you rocking.

JC is a major presence in the Denver music scene, both as a solo artist and as the keyboardist for Mr. Majestyk’s 8-track Revival. JC began his formal training on the piano at age five and by 15 he was playing and singing as a solo artist. He continued his training at Baldwin-Wallace College and the Cleveland Institute of Music where he decided to pursue a career in popular music. JC has played with Auralis in Cleveland, Crimson Sky in Denver which eventually became FalleN and is currently an integral member of Mr. Majestyk’s 8-track Revival. JC is the driving force behind Anavrin’s Day and is ecstatic to be playing the music he grew up with

Born in Denver, Nick is deeply rooted in Colorado’s local music scene. He’s a diverse musician having played heavy metal, rock, classical, jazz, reggae, and more. Nick brings to the stage over 16 years of experience playing guitar and brings energy and precision to the stage every time. Nick is also a prolific songwriter, having contributed original music to Denver bands Aegri Somnia, A Harlem Sunset, and his current all-original project, Mad Pow. Nick earned his degree in classical guitar performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver where he studied under Alex Komodore and Jeff LaQuatra. He is very excited to be laying down the lead guitar riffs he loves for Anavrin’s Day.

Mateo has been in the Colorado music scene writing and performing professionally since he was in grade school. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and played lead guitar in the original rock band Kindred headlining many of the top clubs in Denver and as the drummer with FalleN. Mateo was a Music Performance Major at CU Denver and has been teaching guitar, drums, saxophone and song writing for over 15 years. He also uses his talents to coach and produce various bands’ projects. Mateo was JC’s immediate choice to play drums with Anavrin’s Day and we’re super stoked to have him beating the skins!
