Sayani Biography
Sayani is a Native American Music Award winning duo known for their unique blend of rich, beautiful harmonies. After working for many years as studio musicians and backup vocalists on the mainland and in Hawaii, Jorie & Christie West (mother/daughter) began singing together as Sayani (Cherokee word meaning Zion). Through language and music, the Sacred Fire /Nvda Sunalei album shares their family stories of life as Cherokees. The album also includes two Hawaiian songs that Jorie wrote to honor the people and the land that the family called home for many years. The Sayani Ale Oginali album features Sayani with many of their Hawaiian friends. An acapella version of "Amazing Grace" sung by Sayani in the Cherokee language is included on the album, as well as their Native Christmas song, "On This Silent Night."
